Designed by Munich-based Stefan Diez, Guise is crafted of precision-cut, engraved crystal imbedded with LEDS. The fixture explores the relationship between light and transparency and was inspired by Diez’s idea of disguising the light source.

To that end, he made a precise slit in the glass to contain the LEDs, which are recessed in a row like imperceptible interior seam. The glass then conducts the obscured light from the interior to the engraved surface, where it finally appears, radiating with an intense glow that appears to emanate directly from the material.

The ceiling and vertical pendant models measure 10-16 inches in diameter, casting an elegant ring of downward light. Crafted of a single piece of tubular glass, the etchings border the bottom of the lamp where the light is concentrated, its shimmering striations lending a distinctive moiré look. Crowned by a halo of diffuse light, it appears to float in mid-air, while the black canopy offers a graphic counterpoint.

These tubular models present practical solutions for public and private spaces. The rim of the glass also emits light, offering more focused illumination. The vertical pendants are particularly effective for brightening dining and meeting areas, while the ceiling lamp is well suited for entryways, hallways, and general spaces. Luminous and magical when lit, the transparent beauty is revealed when turned off.
