Brightening Bar Seating with Vibia Lighting

Producing the perfect ambiance in a bar is akin to creating the ultimate cocktail: it calls for a skillful mix of ingredients whose combination yields surprise and delight. Beyond delicious drinks and sumptuous seating, proper lighting is essential to setting the right tone. We’ve rounded up several examples of bars that master the mood with Vibia lighting—in a hotel, a loft apartment, and a pop-up store.

At the Riviera Hotel in Ottawa, Canada, the bar anchors one side of the lofty restaurant. Decked out in plush leather seats and a gleaming brass countertop, it exudes an air of relaxed refinement.

The bar is illuminated by a long row of Wireflow Lineal pendants, crafted of slender black cables capped with LED terminals. Designed by Arik Levy, their two-dimensional form recalls a line drawing floating in mid-air, like a futuristic tapestry defining the bar portion of the restaurant.

Wireflow pendant is deployed at the end of the bar, its circular form echoing the closed loop of the tabletop below. It reimagines the classic chandelier with tiers of electrical wires creating an intricate web. At once dramatic and delicate, Wireflow’s transparent effect cedes center stage to the columned wall motifs and crown mouldings directly behind it.

In the Poble Nou neighborhood of Barcelona, The Room Studio, a local design team, created an airy loft that doubles as an art gallery. Retaining its original industrial spirit, the home includes brick walls, cement floors and exposed structural elements.

The open living area features a central modular sofa next to a bar area, where the designers selected the Wireflow pendant for illumination. Crafted of industrial cables, it provides a perfect complement to the space, its minimalist profile allowing clear sight lines down the hallway. The black wires also pick up the form and palette of the bar seats, creating a graphic punch against the white ceiling.

In Fidenza, Emilia Romagna, Italy, a gourmet food pop up called Taglierè Kiosk is housed in a striking glass structure. The diminutive market shop is cheerfully illuminated by Antoni Arola’s Palma pendant. The light is a reinterpretation of the classic globe lamp with two semi-circles of blown opal glass joined by an aluminum strap.

Suspended vertically in pairs and solo, the orbs appear to float like bubbles above the display cases. The pendants are interspersed with greenery, evoking a hanging garden that connects light and vegetation as in the natural landscape. The plants spill over the sides, lending an informal attitude to the space while providing a warm glow of wraparound illumination.
